… Are these Part of Your Diet?

What are the best Omega-3 fatty acids sources? This powerful nutrient is largely found in oily, cold-water fish.

Vegetarian, non-seafood sources of omega 3 fatty acids are also available. An alternative is a fish oil supplement.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids Sources – Seafood

Salmon is probably the most familiar of the food sources of omega-3 fatty acids. It is easy to find, easily adapts to a variety of cooking methods and seasonings, and is high in Omega-3s.

Always choose Wild Alaskan salmon rather than farm-raised. Questionable additives and feeds are used when salmon are farm-raised. You can also learn about “how to change your facial structure“, click here

There are other beneficial omega-3 fatty acids sources in the fish department:

Salmon- Omega-3 Food Source

Herring

Salmon

Mackerel

Trout

Sardines

Tuna

Three servings a week of an oily fish is ideal.

Non-seafood source of omega-3 fatty acids

Vegetarian food sources of omega-3 fatty acids include:

Walnuts

Ground flax seeds

Flax seed oil

Canola oil

Flaxseed is a healthy, ancient grain. Store both flax seeds and flax seed oil in the refrigerator. Grind small batches of the whole seed before eating to release the benefits. A clean coffee grinder or blender easily does the trick. Incorporate 1-2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds into your diet daily.

Walnuts are another yummy non-seafood source of omega-3 fatty acids. Just watch how many you eat! It’s far too easy to consume a lot of calories while innocently snacking on nuts. A small handful is plenty.

Two more food sources of omega-3 fatty acids are Omega-3 fortified eggs and the green vegetable purslane. Purslane is considered a weed in the United States, but is regularly eaten in other parts of the world … particularly around the Mediterranean. Possibly a factor in the healthiness of the Mediterranean diet.

Omega-3 Fish Oil Supplement

Need another source of Omega-3s?

Enter Omega-3s in a bottle… aka fish oil supplements. While whole food is always the best source of any nutrient, fish oil supplements are a good alternative.

If you prefer your fish in a bottle, be sure to choose a non-toxic brand. You certainly don’t want to consume nasty toxins in your quest for healthy skin and a healthy body.

One of the brands that I trust, and give to my family, is Nordic Naturals. Nordic Naturals maintains strict standards for quality and purity. No PCBs and no heavy metals. There’s no annoying fishy burps, either!

(Note: always refrigerate fish oil supplements.)
